Reconciliation is the actions taken by reconcile, or make peace and amends with someone. Through dedicated efforts, active listening and a spirit of forgiveness, reconciliation can restore longstanding disputants back to a state of friendly relations - and perhaps renewed friendships.

Conciliation is similar to the traditional mediation process. However, while many mediators prescribe to a facilitative style where they merely try to provide a forum conducive for the parties to find common ground and resolution, conciliation allows for the designated neutral to provide input and suggestions that can help the parties avoid impasse and reach agreement.
